Question for Virginians?
I'm considering relocating out of New England and was wondering what life was like in Virginia. What's the night life like? Where are the best places to live? What's minimum wage? Where are the best beaches? How much do apartments and houses cost? What's the price of gas? How cold does it get in winter? What are radio stations like? How's the theater and art scenes? Things of that nature.
Nightlife: I'm a minor so I have no idea, but Washington DC has good night life.
Best place to live: Northern Virginia, if you move to another part of Virginia you'll be in for a culture shock. Just be ware housing is very expensive. My grandparents bought the house I live in for less than 40K about 30 years ago. Now our house is going for around 500K.
Minimum wage: It is the federal level
Where are the best beaches: Virginia beach has no waves, take a four hour trip to the beaches on the Delmarva peninsula.
Apartments
Both are very expensive in northern VA.
Price of gas
We have some of the highest gas prices in the nation
What are the radio stations like: We have a huge diversity in radio stations. We have Spanish stations, rock, classical, country, religious, and a lot of theses can be found on the FM band.
How cold does it get in winter? It depends on the winter. Sometimes we have temps below freezing. This winter was very mild with temps in 40s, we even had a couple of days in the high sixties. That's normal but are winters can range from brutal to warm.
